The journey to parenthood is a path filled with hopes, dreams, and challenges. The words of one of our IVF patients capture this poignant journey perfectly. In their touching account, they reflect on their personal odyssey to welcome their daughter, Savannah, into the world. Four months after Savannah’s birth, the author finds herself overwhelmed by the joys and chaos of new motherhood, but their determination to share their IVF experience and their precious daughter’s photo with the world remains unwavering.

“One chemical pregnancy, one miscarriage, one missed miscarriage, failed Clomid, failed IUI and three years later, we finally considered IVF at IVI. Our friendssuccessfully had their gorgeous boy there, so we knew the results worked. We didn’t do too much research as to whether we should go elsewhere, we are more result-led people than review-led people.

After meeting Dr Mireia Galian at the first consultation, she advised we needed the PGT-A testing as we had three miscarriages in a short period of time. After she explained the process, we didn’t know why anybody wouldn’t get this option . It was such a high chance the pregnancy would be successful.

After lots of testing, it turned out that out of the 8 embryos they got from us, only two were viable for a successful pregnancy. I would have had another SIX miscarriages if we didn’t do the PGT-A testing. On the first frozen embryo transfer, we got our Savannah Hope. All we had for four years of TTC was hope so it was only right we included it in her name.

We have one more tested, good quality embryo waiting for us. It’s only been four months since I gave birth and I already want to put him/her inside me. We also realised throughout the testing, that I had a blood clotting condition, so I needed Clexane injections throughout the whole pregnancy and I also had a very thin wall lining which they thickened to the right size pre implanting Savannah. We didn’t know about these issues before IVI,but it could explain the previous miscarriages. Dr Galian was very confident from the start, and she was the one who also transferred Savannah that day so we have an emotional tie to that woman and want her for the next transfer. Our best friends have just started with IVI andrequested her because of our success story. We will also be going back soon to introduce her to Savannah. We feel we owe a lot to her and are so incredibly grateful!

I was filled with a lot of doubt when we only had two embryos but she kept saying we only need one good quality one and she was right. That one good quality embryo is napping upstairs as we speak. Even if the other one doesn’t work, we are blessed to have our beautiful daughter. But because we are in Dr Galian’s hands, I am confident the second transfer will also work.

Without a doubt, you should use IVI. The only downfall that we experienced is the admin team and how hard it was to get through to them sometimes as they are so busy. But that shows how popular they are. All the nurses and doctors throughout the egg retrieval process etc were incredible and supportive. They had as much hope as we did and were wonderful. Cannot recommend them enough!!!”

In sharing their poignant journey, this couple’s story serves as a beacon of hope for others facing the challenges of infertility. Their testament to the power of perseverance, medical expertise, and the unwavering determination to bring life into the world is a profound testament to the joys and complexities of the path to parenthood.
